Enrique Schadenberg Balbontín
Artist dedicated to the composition, performance, research, and dissemination of new and experimental music. He holds a Master’s Degree in Music (Composition) from UNAM; a Master’s Degree in Composition of Music Applied to Audiovisual and Scenic Media, from the Conservatorio del Liceu, Barcelona; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Arts and Sciences, from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
In the field of composition, he has produced works for various media and instrumental formats, highlighting the cycles (re)misiones (re)sonantes (2018-2023), for soloists; Sonograma (2018-2020), scores to be read with the phonopaper app; números (2018-2024), for chamber ensembles; and La partitura como proceso de fractura (2021-2024), presented as his Master’s thesis at UNAM. In the audiovisual and scenic field, he has composed the music for the documentary film L’ordre des choses (2022) and for Ópera pacífica (2024), the latter thanks to the Fondo de Creación Interdisciplinaria PUCV (2023). In 2019 he founded Sello Modular with César Bernal and Andrés González, and has been artistic director of ensamble f(r)actura since 2017. Likewise, he has been a professor at the Instituto de Música PUCV since 2017 and Director of Postgraduate Studies at the same institution since 2021. He is currently a PhD student in Art History at UNAM with a research on contemporary scores in relation to their forms of notation and the modes of listening they deploy.
He joined PoéticaSonora MX in October 2024, with special interest in intermedial poetics and listening practices, as well as relationships between sound, performance, and notation.
